FISE World Edmonton 2016

Course preview with Declan Brooks !

Qualifications are about to begin on the BMX Park, it’s time to have a look at the course with one of the riders who know the most how to use it for good and fast lines. Here is the video of the course with english shredder Declan Brooks, who is also chatting with us about the making of that clip.

Hi Declan, how was the course preview ?

This is my first course preview, it’s pretty fun. I always like the FISE course so it worked well. I made one of the main lines, it’s big and fast so it keeps your speed for the rest of the run.

Does the park suit you well for your type of riding ?

I would say so, Denver was a really good course for me, this one has also a couple of big transfers, but it comes mostly on the opposite way so it’s harder for me, but I will make it work.

How is it to talk while you are riding ?

It is pretty weird, I kinda forgot to talk and I remembered and just talked before the front flip « oh…frontflip…jumpbox », but it’s pretty cool. It doesn’t bother me. It’s fun you have the course for yourself for 2 minutes too.

Do you remember a crazy course preview made before at FISE ?

Alex Nikulin course preview in Denver with his front flip « DAB », that was pretty gnarly.

How do you feel for this event in Edmonton ?

I feel good, I rode the practice this morning, did that course preview and now I can chill and watch the other riders as I finished in the top 5 in Denver so I automatically go to the semi-final. This is pretty good what the FISE is doing right now because it rewards the best of the stage before, and it’s not as demanding on the body, you only ride 2 days instead of 3.

Are you confident for this event ?
Yeah, well I still put a lot of pressure on myself. I want to make finals at every stop, making top 10 at every stop would be nice, since I only made 22nd in Montpellier, in Croatia 7th, in Denver 5th so it’s getting better and better. Hopefully it’s not luck and I still get top 5 this week-end which would be sick, and then go to China to finish it off.
