We’re back in Chengdu, China, for the final round of the 2017 FISE World Series. The BMX Freestyle Park has been an eventful contest this Series, with big tricks and strong winds both playing their part in shaping the FISE leaderboard.
So, after three stops, who is still in contention for the FISE World Series win?
Daniel Dhers
Dhers has all but sewn up the 2017 World Series title, and, barring any mishaps, Mr. Consistent will be wearing the FISE crown at the end of Chengdu.
Dhers’ cool, analytical approach has paid dividends yet again at FISE, climbing up the podium along the first three stops – 3rd in Montpellier, 2nd in Budapest and 1st in Edmonton. Will he be content with anything less than a place atop the leaderboard in Chengdu?
Knowing Dhers as we do, the man from Caracas will want to stamp his authority on the 2017 World Series with a world-class performance at the last stop and show the rest of BMX he’s still on his a-game.
Brandon Loupos
After a promising start to this Series – 6th in Montpellier and an impressive 1st in Budapest – Loupos failed to make the podium in Edmonton. Should Dhers slip up in Chengdu, Loupos will need to summon the intensity he found in Budapest to have a shot at taking first.
We’ve all seen what the young Australian can do on a bike, and we think Brandon Loupos will be a repeat contender for future FISE World Series. But first, there’s Chengdu, and he has to prove to himself and to fans that he can hang with the best.
Daniel Sandoval
A man that’s been so close to a 1st place this Series that he could reach out and touch it. Sandoval has been working hard to get back to his best, and we saw glimpses of this in Edmonton.
The Californian’s tricks were clean and his lines true, two things he’ll need to perform in Chengdu if he wants to outrank the FISE favourites, Daniel Dhers and Logan Martin. We think he can.
Logan Martin
It’s been an up-and-down Series for this young man. An enviable 1st place in Montpellier was abruptly cancelled out by a shock exit in Budapest, before Logan found his pedals again with a 3rd in Edmonton.
The 2016 Champ can pretty much wave goodbye to a repeat performance this year, but there’s still a fight for a place on the podium. Chengdu offers Logan a chance to satisfy his hunger for victory, a chance you can bet he’s going to take. When Logan gets that look in his eyes, there aren’t many riders who are going to place ahead of him.
FISE World Series Chengdu is on FISE channels 3-5 November. Set your alarms and tune in for the epic finale on FISE Facebook LIVE.
