COUPE DU MONDE DE WAKESURF GRAU DU ROI

April 30th's weekend

23 Feb 2016 17:36

Make sure to keep the weekend of April 30th for something very special: come to southern France, at the Grau du Roi Port Camarguort resort(20 min away from Montpellier), for an exclusive new stop of the Wakesurf World Cup. For this first edition, there will be wakeboarding demonstrations all weekend long, as well as a wakesurf competition, part of the "World Series of Wakesurfing". Not only that, but it will be the only "Gold" stop in France, which means the best pros in the world will be in town! This stop is part of the FISE World Montpellier which will be taking place one week later, from May 4-8. A  great argument to take a few days vacation in the area!

Wakesurfing: what is that?

Wakesurfing is a boardsport that has been practiced since the 1950s. Just like most board sports, it was born from the youth in search for new sensations. In this variation on surfing, the rider surfs the wave created by the boat that is pulling him/her. Unlike wakeboarding, there is nothing to secure the feet to the board. This means more freedom of movement, but also different difficulties in the practice. The riders don’t hesitate to attempt tricks that are getting more and more impressive and fascinating to watch.
