Scooter Freestyle Park Pro - Semi Final - Men
Every year, FISE packs the banks of the Lez river in Montpellier with huge skateparks. Alongside the SNIPES concrete skatepark for skateboarders, the huge UCI bmx park, let us introduce you to the OCCITANIE freestyle park dedicated to inline and scooter riders. Gathered on the grass in front it was the best time of the day to tan nicely and safely, the crowd enjoyed it like it was holiday…well actually it was.
NO TIME TO WAIT
24 riders were competing for a spot on the final. The least we can say is that the scooter riders made a proper use of the ramps and grind box, using their versatility and technical skills to mix aerial combos and street moves. At this game, the youngest riders were not the shyest and showed unlimited motivation. Look at 14 years old Esteban Clot (7th) and Jayden Sharman (2nd) who showed how the next generation might be ready to take over…already. How crazy to think how such young athletes manage to perform and handle the pressure on such a big stage.
DANTE BACK TO DIVINE
On this sweet early evening, the scooters demonstrated that their discipline definitely belongs in the action sports family. It might be a young sport, but the popularity of these scooters is undeniable. Ask Dante Hutchinson what it feels to be followed by more than 200 000 kids on instagram. The world champion slammed two times during qualifications yesterday but he benefited from a wild card entry after a qualified rider was injured. The uk superstar honoured it by firing today and completed an assured, shirtless and high level run. Dante is back to divine and will challenge tomorrow Jamie Hull who qualified first (89pts) and ended the session and with a crazy double flip.
Final is this Friday at 7.20 pm local time and live on FISE Channels (facebook, youtube).
