FISE UP APRIL

ALEXIS GREUSARD
IT'LL BE FINE

Virus, inflation, war among many others, artificial intelligence, there is not too much to celebrate these days... And yet it will be fine. It will be fine because the world will continue to move under his board, under his feet firmly anchored in reality, in balance between the spots of Montpellier and the serenity of the Cévennes hinterland. To follow our fise up video, here is a little optimistic interview with the very pleasant Alexis Greusard, 25 years of skateboarding and still just as motivated. It will be fine, here is the proof.

It will be fine skateboarding in Montpellier?

It should with the new skatepark coming. On the other hand, the FIVE O shop might close after 25 years of good and loyal service. It's going to feel weird. The science college spot has visibly reinforced its security too, but hey, it should continue to skate anyway.

It will be fine skateboarding in the countryside?

Not really because in the town where I am the park made of steel is on an horrible grainy concrete, not really skateable, really shitty. There's something in Ganges near a petanque area but it brings a lot of dust and I have the grip all the time filthy it's annoying. My life in the Cévennes is more about recharging batteries. There are rivers, forests, lots of plants, animals, good local food, it's chilled.

It will be fine going downhill?

You are talking about that one near Peyrou plaza in Montpellier. It's not long so with a few friends it's enough to block the side streets and secure the end. On the top there is this so pleasant bump; you do a little flat trick and you are good for a nice downhill afterwards, it's a great spot, very simple but great to skate.

It will be fine skateboarding in the future?

Yeah, I have serious motivation. I feature in interesting video projects, with Janus in Bordeaux for example. I would like to go to Paris more to film with Quentin Delebecque who is super cool and has good ideas. I'm also on a little thing in Montpellier there. I always have too much fun in skateboarding, because you never stop progressing. I pick up new move, it's too much fun. For example right now I am trying to learn fakie hardflip. I just landed front switch tailslide which are too cool. I have a thousand ideas for tricks and spots and just have to find the time and the opportunity to do it… I'm thinking of a switch backlip on a super cool spot in Montpellier, nose slide 270 too, as I just got the trick right. We just need to find others partnerships to finance some cool trips. We could get out on some sweet projects by going to shoot in Lisbon or Barça but we are not very rich.

It will be fine filming with a VX ?

Let's say it's complicated to repair VXs and get an hand on these century fisheyes that cost several thousand euros. My cameraman friend would like to have one, it's lighter than his P2 and he could do more movement and shoot more fish eye angles. But like me, he doesn't have the money, it's a pity. He still adapted a century on the Panasonic and it's already super quality.

It will be fine after retiring of skateboarding ?

I don't think about it too much yet, I have lots of ideas; I have leads, plans, we'll see after the skate I'm not really decided yet.

It will be fine for your son?

My son isn't too into skateboarding, he has a board but it's not really his thing at the moment. He tries from time to time but I've never forced him to get on it too much, we'll see what he likes to do. But I see myself in any case spending a lot of time with him to make him discover lots of things other than skateboarding.

It will be fine for the new generation of skateboarder in Montpellier ?

For sure, I am precisely on the part of Marcelo (Tiffou) which will be released this year or what. It's going to be a nice project I think because that kid is really killing Montpellier right now. I should have some clips in there. He's in his twenties so we have a big age difference (i am 37) but I think he's the most interesting skater in our city right now. Humanly, he's super cool, he has the best style, he goes crazy, he skates smart too, creative and everything. He's a killer. We inspire each other and he manages to motivate my cameraman friend just as much, it’s promising.

Thanks

Cyril Lopez, Denis Noël, Jérôme Beroizin who is the best cameraman I know;
