All of us at FISE are deeply saddened by the news of Pierre Agnes, the CEO of Quiksilver, disappearing after his boat was found washed up on the French coastline. Whilst our deepest condolences are with his friends and family during this difficult time, we wanted to reflect on the life of a legend in the action sports community.
Pierre was a man who lived for the water, first coming onto the scene as an international surfer representing France at the 1986 World Championships.
He went on to join Quiksilver as the French team manager, where his business acumen was hard to ignore - Pierre was swiftly put in charge of the first Quiksilver store in Biarritz.
Over the next few years, Pierre progressed at Quiksilver, eventually becoming CEO in 2015. Last year, he oversaw Quiksilver’s transition into Boardriders (amalgamating DC Shoes, Roxy and Quiksilver) and was in the process of producing a game-changing bid for Billabong.
Pierre is known amongst those close to him as somebody who loved the open water, possessed a sharp mind and was extremely down-to-earth. His love for surf drove Quiksilver to become the giant that it is today – and the action sports world will not be the same without him.
