Laury Perez Produces the Perfect Performance!!
It was 23 degrees this afternoon in Montpellier and the BMX Freestyle Girls brought even more heat in their final.
We had 12 riders who had made it through qualification and each had 2 runs to impress the judges with the best run counting. It was a fully International line up but in the end it was local French rider Laury Perez who took home the gold medal. Her first run was incredible, so it was hard to believe when she bettered that in her second. Her stand out tricks included a huge truck driver on the difficult step up obstacle and she scored a massive 94.00.
In second place was the youngest rider in the contest, 14 year old Miharu Ozawa. She fell attempting a backflip in her first run but there was no stopping her in her second. She landed the backflip over the box as well as a big 360 bar to score 93.00 just 1 point behind Laury and is definitely a rider to look out for in the future. In 3rd place was Sasha Pardoe of team GB, who brought power and speed to the contest landing a beautifully clean backflip and a supper snapped tundown.
