THE HIGHLIGHTS
The weekend in Reims is over ! It's already time to summarize the 2016 FISE Xperience Reims highlights.
The 4th stopover of the FISE Xperience Series, with riders from all places, levels and ages : it was 48 hours non stop. Competitions for the juniors, the amateurs and the professionnals took place all over the weekend in Skateboarding, BMX Freestyle Park and BMX Dirt !
Saturday was dedicated to the qualifiers. Despite a few of them being retarded, let's salute the efforts of the whole FISE crew who went into action to organize, dry the park out and re-shape the dirt jumps.
The second day was all about the finals. We have faced bad weather and all the pro BMX Dirt, junior, amateur and pro Skateboarding finals actually took place. A good revenge compared to the FISE World Montpellier this past may !
FISE Xperience Reims, it's also the big BMX Dirt comeback at the FISE ! The BMX dirt finals have offered an incredible show to the public, then relieved on the FISE Facebook live. We got to watch runs from riders coming from many different countries (Ecuador, Canada, Belgium, The Netherlands…) which confirmed the international stature of this Reims stopover. As a reminder, 500m3 of dirt had been added to create a trail that would suit the big aerial tricks. Anthony Jeanjean from the south of France and the young Belgian Kenneth Tancre confronted during these explosive finals. And finally the Belgian got the win with 3 perfect runs and most notably landing a 720 bus.
Thomas Carrot finished in first during the amateur finals, on trails that even caused some trouble to the professionnals. Let's salute also Alex Bibollet's performance, 22 years old, as the Epernay local finished second.
Now in Skateboarding, the young Sebastian Mouron took the win in junior and Esteban Vialle in amateur.
Joseph Garbaccio, neck and neck with Benjamin Garcia, set the street park on fire late afternoon and went for a victory in pro Skateboarding. This young skater with a very promising future, realized very technical and innovative runs. Hugo Corbin takes the third place of this competition.
With BMX Freestyle Park, the 3rd discipline of the weekend, Jari ROGGEVEEN won the junior contest and Tanguy LABERTRANDE finished first in amateur, we could be seeing him among the pros in the near future.
Finally, we closed the weekend with the big BMX Freestyle pro Park finals, broadcast live on fise.tv and SFR Sport Xtreme. The show was on, with 12 riders in top shape in the finals. A lot of surprising, innovative and aerial tricks were performed on the huge park. In the end, the Canadian Joel Bondu, already first out of the qualifiers, won the finals with new tricks offering even more of a show to the audience. He ended the contest on a "high note" during the best trick with a super loud flat tire. He stands before the English Cam Peake, 2015 winner of the FISE Xperience. Jimmy Van Belle as usual, tried always crazier tricks, while the unpredictable Pierre Tortereau gave us the « best trick » of the night. We also want to insist on Kenneth Tancre's determination, Ola Selsjord's power and Tom Van Den Boggard's style.
Thanks to all of you. This weekend was amazing thanks to the riders, to an incredible public, to the city of Reims, the FISE staff, the announcers full of energy etc. That was a very intense weekend, we see you in Reims next year !!
