INTERVIEW OF THE YOUNGEST RIDER

Today, we went to meet Sasha and Mattéo, a father and his son with a common passion : skateboarding. Mattéo is 7 years old, he is the youngest of the junior contest, his father 28 years old entered the competition in amateur class.   

How would you describe yourself ?

S- I’ve skated a lot when I was younger and the kids made me want to start skating again. This year, Mattéo really wanted to enter the FISE Xperience Reims, so I told myself that it was also a chance for me to take part. Our family is passionate about action sports, we all practice together, it’s nothing but good times ! 

M- I skate all the time with daddy, he gives me advices to perform my tricks better. 

What are the sensations when you ride ?

S- I feel like it frees your mind and allows you to unwind… It’s also very gratifying when you do pull a trick.

M- I feel very well, I’m not stressed at all.

Mattéo, what tricks did you land ?

Ollies, carving in the transitions, small 180.

Were the vibes good with the other riders ?

Frankly yes, skateboarding gives you the chance to meet a lot of people, share experiences. 

What do you think of the FISE skatepark ?

Very large, impressive, big ramps, you can do many tricks on it. The only little problem is the asphalt ground. 

Did you also take part in the FISE Xperience Odysseum this past april ?

No, we didn’t have the chance, but with Mattéo we are definitely planning to enter the FISE World Montpellier in amateur and junior next year.

Sasha, how do you feel about tomorrow’s competitions ?

We’ll see, we don’t know if we’re qualified yet. But in any case it made us super happy to skate the same set ups as the pro riders and to skate next to them too.
