BGirl India and BBoy Shigekix the big winners at Breaking for Gold Shanghai
From the top 16 to the finals, the West Bound dome vibrated all afternoon at the heart of FISE, hosting the prestigious Breaking for Gold competition!
Under the expert eye of 9 judges, all top names in the discipline, it was in this arena that 16 BGirls and 16 BBoys battled it out to win this international title. On the decks, French DJ Tajmahal, a regular at top-level competitions, and Chinese DJ Mazerock took it in turns to entertain the dancers over the two days of battles.
After winning each of the battles through to the final, it was BGirl Royal (China) and BGirl India (Netherlands) who battled it out for first place!
The Chinese girl went straight into the cypher to impose her musical style, alternating between very fluid and original top rock and footwork and powermoves and acrobatics executed with precision, alternating between acrobatic movements and supple freezes. Despite a fairly short 3rd round, she didn't hesitate to play with her opponent, always with a smile on her face.
For BGirl India, it was a battle rich in flow and speed changes, with impressive powermoves executed with precision, original and dynamic footwork with worked shapes and supple freezes that represent her style well. She remains musical, always bouncing and maintaining continuity in all her moves while challenging her opponent.
Result: 2 rounds won for BGirl India vs 1 for BGirl Royal, giving victory to the Dutchwoman and her unique style!
As for the B-Boys, BBoy Lithe-ing (China) vs BBoy Shigekix (Japan) was a battle of power and style.
In the end, it was BBoy Shigekix who came out on top, winning all 3 rounds.
BBoy Lithe-ing impressed the large crowd with his intense, fast footwork, clean freezes and unique flow, a blend of musicality and suppleness. He nuanced his moves with speed changes and his unique character, as well as numerous combos of movements that sometimes resembled capoeira.
BBoy Shigekix defended himself with 3 rounds of unrivalled quality, sending out as much energy in his footwork as in his powermoves with numerous headspin and key variations. His impressive freeze combos, musicality and speed earned him a score of 3 rounds won (out of 3) and gave him the long-awaited victory for the Japanese.
For 3rd place, it was in the small final that everything was decided: the two losers of the TOP 4 battles faced off to determine 3rd and 4th place.
In the BGirls category, BGirl Ayumi (Japan) and BGirl Anti (Italy) faced off in a good vibes battle, with BGirl Ayumi winning 2 rounds against the Italian.
Among the BBoys, it was BBoy Issin and BBoy Quake who faced off in a good vibes battle
Among the BBoys, BBoy Issin and BBoy Quake battled it out in a good atmosphere, but always with power, using powermoves and impressive footworks. The result was a 2 round win for BBoy Quake, who moved up to third place on the podium.
